Belgravia Capital was founded in 1984 as a commercial lender and quickly became an early leader in the emerging field of commercial mortgage securitization. In 1991, Belgravia Capital originated the first CMBS pool (Daiwa MHP 1991-1) in a partnership with Heller Financial and Daiwa Securities. By the mid 90's, Belgravia had established itself as the primary provider of capital to the Self-Storage and Mobile Home Park industries and had become one of the few off-Wall Street firms actively originating and securitizing CMBS product. At the same time Belgravia's Securities division had become an early pioneer in the structuring of debt for pre-IPO REITs. Belgravia continued to evolve as a pioneer in the commercial real estate arena, ultimately become the 6th largest CMBS lender in the US. Belgravia was an early mezzanine lender with its Belgravia/ Westbrook Mezzanine fund which was established in the late 1990's. Belgravia Capital Corporation was sold to FINOVA in 1997 and was then re-established in Commercial Real Estate finance in 2008 by members of the original Belgravia Capital including its original founder and CEO.

Belgravia has raised the private equity fund New Horizon to acquire pools of distressed mortgage assets in 2010.
